Re: Weekly Contest #2: Create a Species
The corbot is a small, fuzzy creature resembling a shrew, with horns and a long tail. It is a scavenger, feeding on the carcasses of large animals, or medium sized animals. These animals typically search in packs of 10-20. They live in large wooded areas, most commonly in the north, around ponds or medium sized bodies of water.

Quick question... Is this a race I need to make up specifically for this, or can I just pull out one of the races I've already made?

Creature Thingy
I think I'll call 'em Scamplings, it kinda sorta makes a little sense.
Basically, they're these big gross things, made out of really smelly organs and muscles and it all smells like a lot of small animals died inside them. They're around 5 feet but they're fat and large in really odd places. Their skin is really stretched and you can see veins and things. Also, they are extremely ugly, and don't have noses-it's sorta like someone squashed a bunch of grapes in the place where the nose should be. They're actually smart little buggers and can fight pretty well, handle a stick, and their meaty fists are just nasty. In, you know, the bad way. Thankfully, they live really really far away from all people, in their own little Scampling swamps and bogs and mossy forests. If you ever meet one, don't let it fall on you. Seriously, it will break every bone in your body, and if you're really lucky you escape with a punctured lung or two and be a rancid, gooey mess for a while.

@Minifig: Most excellent... Now comes the question... Do I use this as an opportunity to expand upon a race I have done little with... Or do I just further expand on the races I've already done a lot with... Hmm... I suppose I should just go with the race I haven't done much with. Even though they're fairly minor. Unless of course, I end up scrambling for time. XD

Re: Weekly Contest #2: Create a Species
Species name: Gaufrean
Description: Gaufreans are mid-sized reptillian creatures that are abundant on the planet Rogarth. They have hard, overlapping scales covering the upper-side of their bodies, while their underbelly is made of a pliable material that allows them to curl up into a protective sphere in times of danger. They have short, stubby legs, making escape difficult when faced against swifter foes, making their scaly exterior a necessity for survival.
However, their scales are not their only means of defense. They have a long, scaly tail with four large, sharp spikes protruding from the end. These spikes secrete an acid that both burns and poisons those that it cuts. This same acid is mixed in the creature's saliva, allowing it to more easily kill and digest it's prey. The Gaufrean is interesting due to the fact that it often preys on creatures several times larger than itself, using it's acidic secretion to it's advantage in confrontations.
Gaufreans tend to be very social creatures, getting along well with others of it's species, often traveling in groups of 20 or more. Despite this, they tend to separate in pairs during hunting; typically a male and a female; mating pairs. They reproduce through laying eggs that range from groups of 3 - 7, and surprisingly, both the father and mother tend to the eggs and the recently hatched child throughout the majority of their younger years. After adolescence, the younger Gaufrean often stays with it's parents, and join with the larger group for safety.
The Gaufrean's natural habitat is in large forested biomes, although some sub-species have been seen nesting near lakes and other mid-sized bodies of water. These Gaufreans have shown a natural affinity for swimming, using their long tales for propulsion as they feed upon aquatic creatures.
A Gaufrean's average life span is around 14 - 16 years, however, some have been observed to live as long as 28 standard years in captivity.
Gaufreans are a potential threat to humanoid creatures without proper protective gear, therefore extreme caution is advised if one is spotted nearby humanoid encampments.
